Native West Virginian Entertains with Travel Photos

Philip Atkins, a native of Harts in Lincoln County, West Virginia, has been documenting his travels around the world through photographs. A project that has been several years in the making he is now making a gift to his community.

This project includes creating picture slideshows with music posted to the
internet with brief discriptions.

"I was lucky enough to catch a French wedding with my camera in Lauterbourg, France and a Polish wedding in Krakow on video."

In additon, Philip also provides a link to the photos used in the presentation for computer downloads for screensavers and wallpaper to your desktop free of charge. If you'd like to donate a small amount of money that's OK but not necessary.

Philip's travels include Normandy, France to some of the sites of the movie where Saving Private Ryan was filmed starring Tom Hanks. Auschwitz, Poland is yet another location to where the largest nazi concentration camp was located and the movie Schlindler's List was filmed by Steven Spielburg. Colmar, France to the home of Simon Bartholdi the designer and creator of the Statue of Liberty.

There's also a journey through the Schwarzwald also known to americans as the Black Forest as he photographs his day through the town of Sieger.

Basel, Switzerland and the Rheinfalls are also available, an antique car show from the German town of Rheinzabern in the Rheinland Pfalz near the Alsace region of France.

They're many other locations in France and Poland but what's not to forget is that these online presentations may be ordered on DVD for a small free. What's included online are HD widescreen formats to a music score that Philip hopes to entertain all while teaching his audience things that they will probably never experience on their own journey in life.

The next project will be to sort through over 400 photos from the towns of Kitzbuhel & Obendorf, Austria.

I hope this project greatly enriches the life of a youngster or someone elderly for all that matters in lifting their spirit in our own lifes journey.

It's been my pleause providing this entertainment in my lifes work as God has given me the strength, wisdom and opportunity in creating this great project my greatest work of my life.

Best Wishes,

A special thanks to my tour guide Bern and to his girl friend Slyvia for letting me spend the night. It was perhaps the best night sleep of my life sleeping in the Black Forest town of Sieger. The photo that looks as though it was shot from someone's back porch was taken from Slyvia's house.

The highest point in the Black Forest is known as Feldberg. {wiki}

Sieger is located close to the borders of Austria, Switzerland and France.

Garrett McKinley Price 1919 grandfather of Philip Keith Atkins & father of Ruth Lucile (Price) Atkins {source}

Garrett was born 28 Nov 1896 and was married to Inez Kelly until her death on 2 Jan 1956. He died in his sleep at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Sidney Atkins Jr. on Little Harts Creek, Lincoln County, West Virginia on 5 Jan 1979.

Garrett served in the US Army during WWI at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. His job as described to me was to attend the horses of the army officers. The non commissioned officers or NCO's were less fortunate. I discoved to my surprise during my basic training at Ft. Bliss that the army had retained the horse stables as a museum. I was able to personaly share this story with my grandfather just before his death and prior to my departure from El Paso, Texas. Grandfather always had a way working with animals. General John 'Blackjack' Pershing was the commanding general at the time.

Bavarian Corner Restaurant

Bavarian Corner Restaurant
Lacey, Washington
Small and quaint but big on flavor by Gordon Medley
3.9.2011

Bavarian Corner is in my top 5 places to eat in the entire Puget Sound region. Angelika Irving, the owner, cooks authentic German food just like my mother used to. I think it's better than in Germany itself. The place is small and can get busy to just relax and enjoy yourself. more...

What kind of man is President Obama?

What kind of man is he?
lincolnjournal.com

Editor:

I have some time to read and some time to become a "news junkie" and a strange phenomenon has caught my attention lately -- one that really bothers my thinking about the President of the United States and what he is all about. To be specific, due to the fact that he was a teacher of the law, as we are told, he must be aware of some wording in some recent speeches that even school children know isn't correct.

In giving speeches on September 15, September 23 and October 18, while giving speeches, the President partially quoted paragraph 2 of the Declaration of Independence, BUt, he left out the word "CREATOR" all three times. When I heard about the occasion on September 15, I just supposed it was due to stumbling over words, which I have done myself on occasion. However, it now appears he is doing it with purpose and that, I believe, is offensive to most Americans.

His quotation should have read, "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their CREATOR with certain inalienable Rights, "etc. Now, read that once again and leave out "by their CREATOR" -- what do you see? In the first place, why should he CHANGE a quotation of such historic importance?

The implication is that our rights and blessings have NOT come from God and His love, but are gifts from "government". The ramifications of such thought are that if the elected elites can give you anything, the elected elites can take it from you. But there is an even deeper problem, which bothers me more than a word being deleted, and that is the President, who claims to be a Christian by his own confession while in campaigning for the job, refuses to give Honor and Glory to the Son of God, whom the Holy Scriptures say created all things.

It makes me ask: "What kind of a man is he?"
