Consumer Security Software Providers
April 20, 2010
We've all come to appreciate the importance of good software security on our home and office computers.
I haven't tried all of the Microsoft recommended providers but yesterday my computer was attacked by malware and my antivirus program had expired.
I then proceeded to download and install Microsoft Security Essentials, uninstall the old security program and then wipe out the computer virus. Essentially, I was a very lucky guy.
Microsoft Security Essentials runs in the background and has options for a partial or full sweep of your operating system.
I'm running Microsoft Vista on the effected fore mentioned machine and I'm not really sure how many different versions of this security suite are available. However, I do know that it's a fairly new program, has a very nice user interface and works really smooth with Windows Vista.
Think of it this way in that you won't have to buy any antivirus software in the future.
Simply visit the following link in order to download your free version of Microsoft's Security Essentials by clicking on the logo.

Fuller Tours Expanding Stryker Repair Facility in Qatar

CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, Qatar – U.S. Army Col. Lawrence Fuller was in Qatar, April 14, touring the only Stryker battle damage repair facility in the Middle East. Fuller completed a two-day tour of Army Materiel Command warehouses at Camp As Sayliyah, a week ahead of taking command of 402nd Army Field Support Brigade at Joint Base Balad, Iraq.
Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 401st AFSB – a 402nd AFSB subordinate unit – manage AMC facilities in Qatar. In early March, the 1-401st AFSB started receiving Stryker equipment from a forward repair area in Iraq, amid a drawdown of U.S. forces.
General Dynamics Land Systems contractors met with Fuller to explain expanding Stryker repair and retrofit capabilities in Qatar. A shift in theater equipment is introducing several more repair options: wheels and tires; full-up power packs; remote weapons stations; and vehicle electronics. A second warehouse has been claimed for additional storage space.
U.S. Central Command war fighters depend on Strykers to tear through terrain with more than 20 tons of armor, mechanical parts, weaponry systems and life-saving equipment. The light-armored, wheeled vehicles are capable of traversing paved streets and soft off-road regions, while providing protection from enemy fire and roadside explosions.
Strykers with extensive battle damage are repaired at Camp As Sayliyah. GDLS welders and mechanics mend and patch warped and penetrated hulls. Retrofit kits are applied to bring vehicles to current configurations. A series of inspections and road tests ensure vehicles appear and function like those fresh out of production.
More than 200 battle-damaged Strykers have been repaired in Qatar since 2005.

In the second and last photo in this news article is Bill Sheratt, from Stoke-on-Trent, England and we worked together at the EDC in Germersheim, Germany in 2008. Bill shipped out for the Stryker FRA (forward repair activity) in Balad, Iraq just before I retured home that same year.
We went to Krakow, Poland together in July 2008 along with his wife, who was a co-worker, and a couple of Germans who worked for GDLS as shown in my photo album and gallery on the google picasa website.
Bill is seen standing next to his wife in the following photo from Poland at the infamous Auschwitz prison gate. Shown left to right is Paul Baggett, Heiko Benz, T-Dog, Bill and his wife.

About Germany's South Rheinland Pfalz
South Rheinland Pfalz
Germany, situated in West Central Europe, or the heart of Europe, is one of the most magnificent countries in the world. The best part is that it offers such a rich diversity of landscapes, architecture, history, and culture. Germany is the country of fairy tale castles, charming villages, crystal clear lakes, snow-capped mountains and lush green surroundings. Whether you want to go trekking or relax on a cruise, Germany offers a variety of vacation adventures. The vibrant culture, hospitable people, and colorful festivals of the place only add to its charm and make any vacation to Germany a truly memorable one.
One of my favorite places to visit in Germany is the South Rheinland Pfalz state that borders the French region known as the Alsace. It's less than a one hour drive to Colmar, France and less than a 20 minutes to Wissembourg and Lauterburg, France.
The Alsace region of France is home to the middle ages castle of Flickenstein.
The South or Sud Pfalz is only a 1.5 hour drive to Basel, Switzerland and the southern enterance to the world famous Black Forest region of Germany. Basel is home to the Rhien Falls a large waterfall of the Rhein river.
The town of Rheinzabern in the Sud Pfalz was home to an antique car show in 2007 and 2008. When visiting Rheinzabern check out the Romerbad restaurant and the Roman museum
Saint Martin is a small town on the German wine strasse that's commonly known as the diamond of the wine street.
The capitol of South Rheinland Pfalz is the ancient city of Speyer, Germany. It's where the ancient crusaders rallied their marches to the holy lands of Israel. Former chancellor of Germany, Helmut Kohn, loves to eat at the Domhof Restaurant across the square from the Dom chuch. Speyer is home to a large history museum and a very nice park and boardwalk next to the Rhein. Easy access to the city from the B210 autobahn.
It's a 3.5 hours drive to the Austrian border towns of Kitzbuhel and Obendorf. One of my favorite places in all of Europe in which to relax stress free. Oberdorf is a very peaceful place and said to be the home of the first Christmas carol.
A 90 minute flight in an airbus A320 from Hahn, located on the French border, will take you to the city of Katawitz, Poland. It's then less than a one hour drive to the tourist attractions of Auschwitz and Birkenau, Poland. The sites of the Steven Speilberg film Schlindler's List about the holocast.
We stayed in Krakow, Poland a must see 14th. century city that caters to British bachlors and Polish wedding.
Go underground and party in the famous catacombs. It's a beautiful and wild city so what more could one ask? The residents of Krakow were some of the kindest people that I've ever met in my 30 years of travels to Europe.
Krakow is also a world heritage site containing the largest and oldest market square in Europe.
