Aaron Theron Adkins b. Aug. 15, 1845

Aaron Theron Adkins
Aug 15, 1845
1929

Veteran of the Confederate States of American and survivor of the battle at Gettysburg, PA.

When I was a little boy my father took me to Aaron's grave. I grew troubled when I begin to realize that knowone could tell me of my gg-grandfather's life history and why the grave stone only had his name recorded. I first though, surely he was a good man and I purposed in my heart to find out why it was so and it has taken me over 40 years to learn the truth.

My first photo of Aaron was from a tin image relief that I received from 'Wild' Bill Adkins of Harts, WVa. Bill is my 2nd. cousin and he was my world history teacher in my sophmore year at Harts High School. Like so many things that school house doesn't exist any longer.

This is the second and last photo that I have of Aaron and I believe it may also be found in the Ronnie Adkins, Adkins book titled: Adkins Land of York, Surrey County, England to Beach Fork, Wayne County, Virginia.

It's perhaps the best book ever written on any family history in all of America.

He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. "

What they do: Many people are forming their own companies by way of telecommuting, offering such virtual services as customer service, concierge services or even public relations from their homes.

"Thanks to the birth of the Internet and the rise of new industries because of it, my company was born. The rise of virtual companies like ours has provided jobs for lots of people," says Debroah Sittig, owner of Green Room Public Relations.

    Highlights of Prague

Tour News Video of the Month
    May 2011
    Highlights of Prague

Commissioned in the 14th century by the Holy Roman Emperor, the Charles Bridge in Prague offers one of the most pleasant 500-yard strolls in Europe. A gauntlet of sights, shops, and restaurants lead from the bridge to Wenceslas Square. In this 4½-minute clip, tour guide Honza Vihan takes Rick on a walk through some of the city's historical highlights — followed by a practical lesson in beer. Prague has a starring role in three of our tours: Eastern Europe in 17 Days, Prague & Budapest in 8 Days, and Berlin, Prague & Vienna in 12 Days.

Rick Steves' YouTube Channel is a great place to watch clips from Rick's TV shows, interviews, lectures and other public appearances.

To see the entire half-hour Rick Steves' Europe "Prague and the Czech Republic" episode on demand, visit Rick's Hulu Channel. Or, buy the DVD!
