Dispatches, Channel 4's flagship current affairs strand, exposes the full and unreported horror of the Iraqi conflict and its aftermath, revealing the true scale of civilian casualties; and allegations that after the scandal of Abu Ghraib, American soldiers continued to abuse prisoners; and that US forces did not systematically intervene in the torture and murder of detainees by the Iraqi security services. The programme also features previously unreported material of insurgents being killed while trying to surrender.

Soap for Hope

Soap for Hope
'Every donation makes an impact'

More than 25,000 homeless children in Washington and northern Idaho do not have soap to wash their hands even though it's one of the best ways to prevent the spread of infection and illness.

Helping these children is one of the many reasons that AAA has partnered with KOMO Newsradio to collect toiletry donations and distribute them locally to those in need via homeless shelters and food banks. In fact, because of your support, AAA Washington and KOMO Newsradio have collected and distributed more than 150,000 items in the past three years as part of our year-round Soap for Hope toiletries donation drive.

Please bring sample or full-size, unopened and unused toiletry items to your local AAA office. Items needed include soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrush, floss and deodorant. All donations stay in the same community where they are dropped off. As a special thank you, we will give you a coupon for 20% off an item in any of our tavel stores.

David Gregory gives Ron Paul a chance to talk. When you give an Austrian / libertarian the chance to explain his case, it's a beautiful thing.

The Defense Department has lost at least $31 billion to waste and fraud, and the true figure could be closer to $60 billion

The Defense Department has lost at least $31 billion to waste and fraud, and the true figure could be closer to $60 billion during the wartime operations of the past eight years because of the sheer size and urgency of the operations and the shortage of workers to oversee those contracts. The result is wasted money and poor oversight of companies in the war zone, according to a new audit.

Question : Elvis, What was the author of the book you were carrying, when you got
off the train?
Elvis : I had just gotten the book, I don't know, One of the boys gave it to me on
the train, and the title of the book was 'Poems that touch the heart'
Question : Have you had a chance to read it?
Elvis : Yes ma'am, I read a couple of poems in it, I read one in particular
called 'Should you go first', which is a beautiful poem, the author was unknown.

"Should You Go First"

Should you go first and I remain To walk the road alone,
I'll live in memory's garden, dear, With happy days we've known.
In Spring I'll wait for roses red When fades the lilac blue,
In early Fall, when brown leaves call I'll catch a glimpse of you.

Should you go first and I remain For battles to be fought,
Each thing you've touched along the way Will be a hallowed spot.
I'll hear your voice, I'll see your smile, Though blindly I may grope,
The memory of your helping hand Will buoy me on with hope.

Should you go first and I remain To finish with the scroll,
No length'ning shadows shall creep in To make this life seem droll.
We've known so much happiness, We've had our cup of joy,
And memory is one gift of God That death cannot destroy.

Should you go first and I remain, One thing I'd have to do:
Walk slowly down that long, lone path, For soon I'll follow you.
I"ll want to know each step you take That I may walk the same,
For some day down that lonely road You'll hear me call your name.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Starry Night" For other uses, see Starry Night (disambiguation).

Artist Vincent van Gogh
Year 1889
Type Oil on canvas

Dimensions 73.7 cm × 92.1 cm (29 in × 36¼ in)

The Starry Night (Dutch: De sterrennacht) is a painting by Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. The painting depicts the view outside his sanitarium room window at night, although it was painted from memory during the day. Since 1941 it has been in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Reproduced often, the painting is widely hailed as his magnum opus.

Genesis

In September 1888, while van Gogh was staying in Arles, he executed a painting commonly known as Starry Night Over the Rhone and later he incorporated a pen drawing in a set of a dozen based on recent paintings. Van Gogh claimed to have a "terrible need for religion" when he painted Starry Night Over the Rhone.
